@verge This is actually not new for the Ikea smart home stuff, the software has never been good. I could never get my Fyrtur blinds to stay paired for long periods and all of Ikea’s battery-powered smart gear was prone to inexplicably draining the battery in one go, I assume because of bugs causing them to transmit continuously. This was all with the old Zigbee gear.
