jesus christ its so hard to find anything on search engines now this fucking sucks
@eniko even duck duck go is barely usable
this sucks

@eniko

The most reliable search engine I've found is the little context links at the end of the Google AI overview.

If someone wrote a browser extension to pull those out and display them as the actual results while ignoring the overview itself I think that might work very well

@eniko I’ve finally started reading man pages that’s how bad it is 🤣
@eniko Kagi is pretty okay
@pecet @eniko I have to second this. Some slop still makes it through, but Kagi is mostly delivering OK results.
@eniko I know. Am in favour of burning down the no longer functional search engines without giving evacuation warnings beforehand.
@eniko I haven’t been having much difficulty lately. Are you using Google?
@pmc not unless im desperate and even then i havent had good luck
@eniko you can easily find lots of things, as long as you are searching for slop :/

@eniko Did you also mean something very generic relative to that very specific thing you entered, which you thus obviously mistyped and need to be helped, even if you quote it, and all the search return the more generic results because of semantic proximity?

(That specific thing drives me completely crazy.)

@eniko

fwiw - kagi offers a bit of relief

@eniko thought it was just me lately, especially critical topics about major brands or corpos are SEO'd to hell it appears
@eniko I'm the world's worst programmer and have been trying for some time to get better at C#. Searching just about anything is a bust these days.
@Turious @eniko Kagi has a programming filter.
@eniko I ended up resubbing to kagi even though I hate their inclusion of AI because it seems there's no other viable option.
@eniko they're pretty much useless now x_x
