Some apps are local first or have caching, so the pod doesn't need to be always accessible

You can also use one of the publicly established instances, such as https://solidcommunity.net/

Your username becomes a subdomain of your own Pod, hosted by such a pod server. Everyone has their own pods (= accounts on a pod server).
Then your pod (=account) saves a WebID configuration, which makes it possible to log in with it.
I am playing on https://yala.solidcommunity.net/public/ but not much happening there.

Made an account on solidcommunity.net but when I try to make a pod I get a lock expiry error (just that server?)
When I try to sign into tired.bike it complains I don't have a webID and then the link to make one... does nothing?
@douginamug @yala That's strange. It sounds like that particular server is having a problem. You could try again later or on another server. Or file an issue at https://github.com/solid/solidcommunity.net
