Not long ago, non-tech users could build websites without engineers. WordPress with themes. No-code tools with Drag and drop. No need to write code. And engineers didn’t lose their jobs. Now, AI can generate code, and non-tech users can build again, just through a different interface.

@lao9s One of my more optimistic takes on the possible impact of AI on SW engineering is similar to this. Users will be able to create custom SaaS-like apps just as they can create websites or online stores. Software engineers will move back to more hardcore stuff - operating systems, browsers, databases, infrastructure, libraries, etc.

But we will see.

@msvana I don't know if users will be able to replicate consolidated SaaS as weekend tools. For example, as an engineer, I use Clickup for task management but I don't even want to start creating my own task manager because I know how much hassle I'll have to keep it up. On clickup you pay $10 and you can use it on desktop, mobile app, browser, notifications, tags and many other useful features.

@msvana And AI still can't make good UI/UX, it simply doesn't understand UX.

@msvana Personally, for me, the tools I use, the UX and UI is extremly important. If I don't like how it looks and feels, I can't use that tool.
