Finally! Firefox Is Getting a Kill Switch for Its (Unwanted) AI Features

Maybe this will bring back some of those lost users.

It's FOSS

@itsfoss

i wonder how much the recent crash in user numbers has to do with it.

@itsfoss it feels more like putting on a kevlar vest than removing the ammo from the firearm.
@el_haych2024 A non-AI FF release would help I guess... (or opting for a fork)
My understanding is that LibreWolf, Waterfox, Tor Browser, Mullvad, Pale Moon, Basilisk, and my own Albus Luna all omit or plan to disable "AI" features.
They created a solution to a problem they shouldn’t have created in the first place. Forgive my lack of enthusiasm
@itsfoss Finally! I'll keep using Vivaldi though
@itsfoss something right would have been no AI. Just because we can turn it off doesn't mean we will always have that ability.
@itsfoss
I'll stick with the about:config menu thanks, if I have to use FF. Or use Librewolf instead.

@itsfoss

"Now there's a kill button for all that crap people told them they didn't want anyway".

Anyway, what big new features are coming to Firefox that AREN'T AI?... anything? *Crickets*
