This shouldn't have needed public outcry to happen but it's good that it does exist.

If only other tech companies did the same.

That said, address bar autocomplete is still completely broken for me (especially on Android) since Mozilla started messing with this modern crop of "AI".

@d3x7r0 On Nightly? This was fixed in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2010941 a week agp. And btw there is no AI involved at all in the address bar autocomplete code :)
2010941 - Autofill suggests urls that aren't relevant to the user

RESOLVED (jteow) in Firefox - Address Bar. Last updated 2026-02-02.

@firefoxnightly I usually run beta. I'm ok with knowing what's coming up but I am not gutsy enough to go for nightly.

Hopefully that fixes it. It's been genuinely making me reconsider firefox how slow autocomplete is now on Android (used to be I could type a letter or two and quickly go to my usual urls like `ma` for mail)

@firefoxnightly Oh! That's a different issue I've also seen. Like getting recommended facebook despite me not visiting the website in years
@firefoxnightly this is what I'm talking about. Notice how long it takes for the URL to come up on the address bar
@d3x7r0 This looks like the same bug which will be included in 148.0 beta 11. The slowness in getting results is not normal though, maybe file a bug if you still experience it with the next beta?

@firefoxnightly I'll try and be a good citizen and open up a bug report.

This slowness has been there for about a year now. I can't even remember when it started. I'm pretty sure it's also happening on my desktops (but it's less noticeable).
