Apple is possibly the best positioned company to oppose the Trump dictatorship. In February there is a shareholders meeting. It should be on the agenda.

- Apple mostly sells to consumers and small businesses, nearly 60% outside the US.
- It is not in the business of selling attention like Alphabet and Meta. It even promises to protect the privacy of (the very loyal) users.
- It is one of the richest companies in the world, it can afford some drop on the stock exchange.

Think different.

Also, what is the fun of having such a gigantic company and not using the power for the good? After all, Apple made contributions to political campaigns in the past. What was the reasoning behind that? At least to influence legislation in favour of Apple.

Then, what could be more beneficial than to oppose this dictatorship? The loyal users will continue to buy Apple. Only a handful of MAGA folks might boycott it, although I expect them to have some cheap Android phone.

Apple certainly can keep ICE out.

Security: "So you don't have an appointment, no names of employees you would like to see and no warrant? I have to talk to Legal first, please wait."

@rrustema Ultimately, you end up with a handful of people who have defined their entire lives in terms of money and power. They are not going to take any risks that might make their lives less comfortable. There is something corrupting about being super-rich. Strong legs that can carry this privilege.
@marcellinusme Will it make their lives any less comfortable? In my estimation Apple and the people at Apple can protect themselves perfectly well against the whims of the dictator. After all, the majority of sales come from overseas. And if the American Apple users are 100% representative for the population then 60% would agree with actions from Apple against the dictator. But the user base is skewed toward the Democrats I think, so it is more than 60%.
