There is no reason essential services like this should be in private hands. The failure or privatisation is clear.
Walrus 🏴The Hag, Thatcher, gave all sorts of fake reasons why private businesses stealing our infrastructure was supposed to be an improvement. Competition was going to make it more efficient, and other such drivel. Anything that has to extract huge bonuses for bosses, dividends for shareholders, expensive subcontracts to their chums, and so on, CANNOT be more efficient.
It was just the start of the asset stripping of all the country had built for itself, of course.

The go-to policy of conservative politics is asset stripping and corporate handouts to their donors and allies.
Mike Torr@Walrus @TCatInReality @Eceni I wish I'd understood this properly when I was 18. Yes, I'm afraid I voted Conservative in 1983. NEVER done it since, but back then I had a lot of confused ideas in my head. :(
