Announcing reform-tools 1.83

Hi, I’d like to make you aware of the upcoming reform-tools release 1.83. It is a rather big one and thus has a higher likelihood to break your systems if I messed up. Here is the changelog. Add support for QUASAR QCS6490 and QCS8550 machines: LS1028A: update to 2025-12-24 with new offset at 1048576 RK3588, A311D, i.mx8mq, i.mx8m+: update to 2026-01-11 with 512 byte alignment Add plymouth.ignore-serial-consoles to bootargs audio/ucm2.conf.d: enable microphone in profile for rk3588 pocket/n...

@mntmn @josch I note no one has replied to the thread yet. Either it's gone smoothly for everyone, or everyone has already upgraded and ...
@kianryan @mntmn There were quite a few problems in the past days but these were not due to the reform-tools release and were either completely out of our hand (the gdm issue) or due to kernel 6.18 on a311d or due to u-boot on rk3588. There are some minor bugs in 1.83 (missing spaces and one wrong if) and I'll fix those in the next release because the issues are quite niche.

@josch @mntmn I honestly feel for you. I saw the post on the gnome/gdm issues and the cascade of people updating and thought "ow". I've not apt updated for a few days, and I'm using sway/lightdm anyway so tend to avoid those bumps.

Hopefully back to smooth sailing soon.
