"Did not have this on my bingo card" is quickly becoming meaningless with all latest insanity, but "ended up agreeing 100% with the Pope" is an underflow wraparound I really really didn't expect

@jon_valdes I guess you mean his stance on AI? Because there's a lot of ornamental and religious language I'd be surprised if you agreed with all of it. 🙂 A very *lengthy* read, too.
@TheIneQuation @jon_valdes i read the whole thing. very low on religious language esp in later sections. if anything, his stance on ai literacy is still too soft for my taste.
@lritter @TheIneQuation my dad's aunt was a nun. I think I developed a mental filter for all the religious imagery, to focus on the actual message behind it all.
@lritter @TheIneQuation but also, once you get to the second section, the language is very clear and devoid of religious aspects. This could very well have been written by Cory Doctorow instead
@jon_valdes @TheIneQuation you know, a part of me was wondering if he really wrote that himself or ... had help.
@lritter @TheIneQuation It does seem pretty off-brand... But hey, if this is going to be the Catholic Church's official position on AI, I don't care whether the Pope was the one that actually wrote it.

@lritter @TheIneQuation it would be pretty hypocritical to begin with a sermon about "stealing our voices and faces" and then use someone else's work, though 😄

So I'll remain at least a bit hopeful that he wrote it himself

@jon_valdes @TheIneQuation ah. there's so much pop fiction lately where they take enemy robots and turn them, so... i think that's totally legitimate if you want to win the war of #mann_vs_machine
