Fab day on South Coast Ridge Road. Started at Nacimiento Fergusson, followed SCRR to Los Burros Rd, then down to Hwy 1. Looped north on PCH back to NF Rd and home to Jolon.

Captured 360 video of the whole drive. If the footage is decent, look for it in my Off The Beaten Track YouTube series. 22.5 miles of dirt in total.

SCRR gets sketchy the further south you go. Steep and pin-stripey. Los Burros is an easy 7 miles back down to the coast.

Nice! I will have to check out your video. Long ago, a group of us mountain biked (or car shuttled) NF, then we all biked SCRR and then down Plaskett Creek Road. It is on my list to go back for a hybrid trip. The views are outstanding.

Update: the middle portion of the Plaskett Creek Road closed in 1994 due to private land ownership.

@Weather_Rock_Wx yep there’s no shortage of views out there! Needed to keep eyes straight ahead! I think Plaskett Creek Road is gated on private property on the way down?

@fourwheeltravel

I’ll check that — added a cautionary note to my earlier post.

Update-the middle portion of the road has been closed since 1994 due to private land ownership.

@Weather_Rock_Wx @fourwheeltravel That's a fun area I have driven a few times. My recollection is that SCRR got sketchier the further south you got in general. And some of the dirt offshoots that led to campgrounds etc. could get some pretty exciting ruts!
@croyle @Weather_Rock_Wx yeah I didn’t take any side shoots, apart from when I mistakenly followed Prewitt Ridge Road for a bit by mistake. It seemed like that was the main road judging by the wear patterns, so I am guessing that must be a final destination for many. Beyond that point SCRR was noticeably less traveled.
