There’s been chatter about The Moylan Arrow recently – the indicator showing which side of the car fuel intake is on. Which made me think: What would be the equivalent of this in software?

My best guess is iOS offering to fill the one-time code from a recent SMS:
- everyone benefits from it
- happens all the time
- solves a real little (but not too little) frustration
- right place/right time
- relatively low-tech
- once you know it’s there, you love it forever

Curious what others think!

@mwichary The volume slide out on iOS seems like the best candidate for a Moylan analogue. It immediately tells you what the buttons are for and the result of the action you took.
@mwichary The thinking here is focused on “where is this thing I need at”, which with the arrow is a static piece of information and the volume being dynamic. Either way it’s a symbol for something you’re not able to always maintain context for.
