I'm low key shopping for a used trumpet. I haven't played in years, but my right hand has not forgotten the scales, and it probably only takes 8 weeks to get some basic lip endurance back, assuming that they adapt like arms and legs.

It's not very hard to play. You push the valve down, the music goes down and around, and it comes out the bell.

@sgillies I picked up my old trumpet a couple years ago, and it was Hard. Mind, I didn't hang in there for 8 weeks to build things back up, but that's because also it was Loud. I felt so self-conscious blatting away. Didn't have that problem when I was 12.
@pwramsey Maybe I'll start with a mute.

@sgillies don't give up, long notes, as soft as you can !

@pwramsey

@strk @sgillies @pwramsey We had *four* trumpets turn up to the local jazz jam last night. And a trombone. We thought it was going to be a sax-less night, but it got "horny" when a couple of altos and a tenor appeared later. Also flute, bass, guitars, violin, drums, percussion and kazoo. Here's mot of the trumpets....
@strk @sgillies @pwramsey And it reminded me of this wonderful surreal ad for jelly snakes. https://youtu.be/AK4d9FNohTU
