I use an M2 MacbookAir for development. Stupidly, I though 256GB for work would be fine, afterall I don't use a lot of extra software, I develop some light weight native apps and a web app. Yet somehow, my disk space is constantly fluctuating by around 40-50GB because of macOS and/or Xcode. I currently can't build for my iPhone without downloading support which requires more disk space than I have.

Last week I had ~50GB free. Modern proprietary operating systems suck. #macos

So I deleted a 28GB derived data folder from Xcode and that somehow freed up 2GB. I rebooted and got 6GB back by magic, showing me 13.5GB free. Within 60 seconds I'm down to 12.5GB free.

I DO NOT LIKE THIS.

@Lacey I think you may need to look at deleting Time Machine backup snapshots, you can see them in Disk Utility.
