Two eyes half-closed — not sleep, not surrender.

Fine mud plaster, ground gemstones, vegetable dyes. Flesh that outlasted empires.
Arms painted in promise; lips remembering silence before scripture.

Behind him, the rock curves like ribcage — mountain made womb.
A peacock shivers in blue. The past breathes through cracks.
The tourist flash detonates: “*Ancient Indian art… influenced by Greece!*”

He looks through it.
This is not **their diffusion.**
This is **our origin, uninterrupted.**

They called it “Buddhist calm.”
He gave **patience, not passivity.**

He paid in *glare and guidebook English.*
They gave **reflection.**
He cropped the **devotion.**
