Funny that heatpumps show up in here. But I guess that makes sense. My heatpump created (in the two darkest and coldest months) 4.8 kwh from 1 kwh so it must have generated 3.8 kwh (Alas, only ~2.4 kwh considering the worst case scenario of fossil electricity's prior conversion loss from heat into electricity) but still good.So good news since renewables are most dearly needed in the winter and thats te time that heatpumps run the most. And heatpumps are getting more popular too.

It's of course just a matter of definition(RED III).
In the past, I always argued that heat pumps save energy. According to this definition, they do not. Instead, they produce renewable energy.
