I’m very excited about #Loops as an alternative to short-video social media. But… How expensive is it to run a server? I’ve read that having a simple mastodon instance can be very expensive, is running a Loops instance is even pricier?
@lbnvds Yes, it's actually a bit cheaper than a Mastodon server tbh, we have a much more efficient schema/database and use S3 for file storage, but we do need to process videos through ffmpeg, so you do need a decent CPU
