Trip to San Francisco to play maimai with the SF community.

Before stopping at Round 1 STG, we made a stop over at Japantown to briefly check out OK Marketplace and get something to eat. Notably, the maimai cabinet at the west end Kiddleton branch was finally running; according to friends in the SFBA maimai community, they got a new maanger who Actually Knew What They Were Doing. Though I don't know if they're
entirely there because they have a flyer asking players to send info about their Aime cards so they can complain to Sega about Aime cards not being accepted, when in reality this cabinet is not fully up-to-date. Incidentally the latest update patch for PRiSM+ dropped while I was there to see maintenance period end. Though it seems they don't have the USB drive to update to CiRCLE yet.

Also, rare moment of me fronting for a rhythm game, rather than Rin?

Then over at Round 1, one of the other players agreed to play "Tetoris" 3 times in a row with me so I could get the T-Spin Triple title without needing to solo (and thus slow down the queue).

One thing we've started doing is, if we get a song with an annoying difficulty spread (something like Expert 9 / Master 13), we'll just play the chart on the easier side and play for Deluxe Score to sharpen our timing, rather than vetoing the other player's song selection.

See alt text for some additional image-specific commentary.

And for some not-mai.
They put in a new top-down run-and-gun game, Gunspike (aka Cannon Spike for the US version).
This is a Psikyo-Capcom collab and as such features a character from the latter - Cammy from Street Fighter. Green leotard and toned booty and everything.
Though I'm slightly not a fan of the controls. When it comes to games where running and shooting can be done in different directions, I prefer the aiming to be the opposite of the player's movement, not match it like it does in this game.

While traveling home, I had to make a transfer from BART to Caltrain. My transit app directed me to exit BART at San Bruno, then walk about 15 minutes to the Caltrain station.

I wondered maybe the app didn't recognize that despite Yellow Lines tranis from Pittsburg/BP terminating at SFO, there's this
weird offshoot of the Yellow Line that goes between SFO and Millbrae? At any rate, I decided to try this route instead for a change.

Near the Caltrain station, there's this brightly-lot casino. I've never been there, but whenever I drive on 101 at night, I can see it from the freeway.

So while I was at Round 1, I was standing between the Gitadora machines and maimai (there's a very narrow corridor between the two), and this kid, who appeared be no older than 7, playing Gitadora: Drummania smacked my behind with the drumsticks. I had made sure to be clear of the general area where players swing the sticks and they still hit me. I turned around and told them not to do that, but instead they ran between the two maimai machines while people were playing, and I told them not to do that because that's dangerous and both the child and the players could get hurt. The child just gave me a nasty look and ran off elsewhere.

I couldn't find this child's parents anywhere, so I was pretty pissed that they were just running around being rude to strangers.

I will admit, when we were younger, and our parents would take us to Reno, they would leave us at the arcades to play while they went and gambled. (The "must be accompanied by an adult" age at some of these arcades was pretty low; the now-gone Harrah's had an arcade where that age was just 8.) But at the least, we tried not to be in the way of people playing games.

But even then, please just watch over your kids if you're out and about with them. If that child causes problems,
you will likely be held responsible.
