The resistive heating at my place is already struggling to keep up.

It’s -17.4° outdoors and 20.5° indoors. I lost 1.5° in the last hour.

@EdwinG 😱 That's wild. Tomorrow it hits here and I'm anxious to see how our 18 year old heat pump fares 🤞. We have backup propane water baseboards buuuuut one of them I suspect of having a slow leak, so that's fun!

@EdwinG If we used resistive electric heat here in NS we would be insolvent in one winter 🤣 but also 😮‍💨.

@javensbukan It costs about $130/month for my little 35m^2 space on a monthly plan. I did some napkin maths for Hydro Ottawa, I would have been around $230/month.

However, their tiering is different from my province’s.

And that price includes all electric uses: heating, cooling, water boiler, refrigerator, drier and your typical home stuff.
