@hypolite @utopiarte My context is science fiction, I am a science fiction author. Yes, in a world where the US simply destroys half the food it produces, there is no scarcity that would drive people to space, and even if it were, conservation here, would be more effective. I do write about these things, such as in "Solis People of the Sun" which other writers have called an invaluable resource. In between that graphic, and something with space battleships like Star Wars, I prefer it.
@hypolite Hard science fiction uses the style of of plausibility to tell it's stories, for me, such as showing a book to a young person the other day, and that the star maps were real, they said "That's so cool." Makes it worth it.
