@nonfedimemes Think he might also be a bit upset about Apple's branding
@nonfedimemes
I don't believe the Turing Test was a serious AI test, but was a thought experiment.
Eliza (1960s) A.L.I.C.E. (late 1990s?) prove how naive untrained humans can be.
No LLM / Generative AI exhibits any intelligence. It's a technological dead end. They are statistical plagiarism machines. Simply environment destroying toys.

@raymaccarthy @nonfedimemes I myself believe that the Turing Test has at least limited practical utility. I decided to conduct such a test on the Twitter "Grok" thingummy a while back: I resolved on having a conversation or discussion with Grok as if they were any other interlocutor on the web, on a particular topic on which Grok was likely to be well-informed: the Millikan oil-drop experiment, which is well recorded.

It was fairly easy to tell, with enough conversation on the topic, that Grok did not have any genuine understanding of it.

queer people dominated computers before they were invented
@nonfedimemes think about how many Alan Turing's aren't changing computer science because they are too busy getting railed by grindr hookups
