Day 20 of #jamuary. Still a bit under the weather. cue was "Convergence". Probability distributions were brought up in the episode. The specific one we will use today is the Wigner Semicircle distribution as inspiration.

The piece starts with a musical scale, with equal spread across a standard time signature (as if each note was playing on its own sequence, each delayed by half a beat) and eventually it converges back to the root.

Between the beginning and the end, the Wigner semicircle is flattened more and more into a semi ellipse, until all notes play at the same time. Another way to look at this is as an 8 channel polyrhythmic sequencer.

The main synth is the semi-modular #Behringer #Neutron which is a #monophonic #synth so once all notes are triggered at the same time, only one sounds, the lowest, achieving convergence. It takes 5 minutes of polyrhythmic phasing to get to that point. #eurorack #semimodular #music
