The best time to influence a NZ government is when they're still on the opposition benches. I encourage everyone who wants to see the current regime tipped out of office this year to write to opposition MPs and pitch your visions and policies for the next government. Be as practical and detailed as you can, and you might even see some of your proposals enacted.

One a new government takes office their plans are already in place, and they're too busy dealing with current events to do the deep reading and thinking they have time for now. They're also no longer in the situation of having to convince the electorate to make them the government, so they have less incentive to respond to feedback for at least a year or two.
