Great class again today.
I have dots! The colors are easier to see on the big internet vs phone. The random lighter blue dot was on the kiln room floor, and well, it's mine now, LOL.

The little kiln carved hearts worked - I wasn't totally sure if I had the fiber paper far enough away from the edges, but it was fine after all.
When I told my instructor I was going to fill them with frit and "see what happens" - she said, "That is what we're here for!" š
Half will go in a full fuse and the other half in a tack fuse.
The tops for the frit stretching all ready for the kiln.
Last week's puddle with the clear, streaky adventurine blue, and the sea blue.
Gonna smash it up next week along with the frit stack. (Next post)
This is the FAFO stack, LOL. Apparently there are tutorials for doing a frit stack/puddle, but I just decided to wing it.
If nothing else, it should look *interesting* when all is said and done.
And finally, the color tests - I'm glad I took the time to do this. I really like the gold iridescent/clear backing pieces.
I can't tell the difference between the purple iridescent & black iridescent, which is fine, both are gorgeous.
I LOVE the black with the gold iridescent. (Second from the top.)
This particular purple came out VERY dark - but it's OK, I will definitely find other uses for it and have a couple other purples I can test.
Ooh, pics from what came out of the kiln from last class!
First, the frit hearts - this set was full fuse and is rather oozy, which I kind of expected. Not sure what went on with the yellow - reaction to glue, fiber paper residue, kiln temp, IDK, but the fine frit did hold the shape the best. The pink/medium frit held OK but not as good as the fine. The red/coarse went all blobby, but I love it?
Tack fuse set will probably go in sometime next week.
The frit puddle is VERY GROOVY! Should I have done a tack fuse of the individual layers first? IDK, probably, but I just wanted to see what would happen, and this was very low risk - if it went pear shaped, Iām only out less than 1/4 of a sheet of clear tekta and a few handfuls of frit. Iāll find a proper tutorial at some point.
Iām loving the bubbles. Yeah, I suppose ideally you donāt want them, but this is going to get smashed and refired, so it doesnāt hurt anything.
The tops of the frit stretching project!
I am sure there is a reason that these get tack fused before the whole stack-on-other-glass and fire, but I donāt know what it is. (It is probably in the the tutorial, but it escapes me.)
I got it all assembled for firing today, but forgot to get a picture, so imagine an 8 inch diameter stainless steel circle form, with these bits each stacked on a bunch of clear glass and then arranged around the inside edges of the form.
And finally, another color test for the plate for my brother to go in the kiln. I am gonna get these colors right, dammit, LOL.
The top is transparent amethyst, which may end up too dark like the royal purple was, but I still want to see how it looks. The bottom is the āboy, do I love my brotherā gold purple opalescent. (Itās pricey, but I donāt need a ton of it for the plate.) Itās a striker, so it will change color when it is fired. (Striker colors are so cool.)
And also got my frit puddle smashed up, too - the frit stretched a lot and Iād say I didnāt expect it, except I had no idea what to expect, LOL, but I like it!
The cabochons from the frit puddles - they are so pretty!
Finally got around to smashing up the puddle I put together in the first week at open studio this week - loving these blues and the clear streaks.
The firing from the sea blue, clear, and adventurine blue. Love them!
