Dollar becomes Unstable -- The E.U. and the E.C.B. hold a lot of U.S. Bonds, and those could be dumped into the market which would have detrimental effects here in the U.S.
China's currency would likely be an immediate benefactor and if the Euro bankers wanted a more stable currency, they would have that option. U.S. dollar fall or callapse could trigger even more dumpoing around the world.
Capital flight from U.S. markets - Immediate withdrawal of investment in the U.S. industries, Lack of trust , so U.S. looses it's position as a rock of stability, then long-term economic turmoil and decline.
