@Vorinstanz can you give me suggestions for getting thousands of photos and videos from Google to anything else? I positively hate Google but every photo and video of my son, who is 11, is on there.

@rbs @Vorinstanz what does it mean to host it myself? I'm moving to Mexico on Wednesday so I'm not sure about having Internet connection where I'll be. (The backside of nowhere is a description I've heard of the specific area).

If you ask it that way, it’s probably not a solution for you.
By “self‑hosting” I meant running it on your own hardware at home, this could be a Linux PC with Docker or a Synology.

A Synology or another brand’s NAS might also be a good idea. There’s an app for backing up photos from your phone.
It does involve some cost, but afterward you’re a lot more independent from cloud providers.

But I am no expert in this whole NAS stuff.
