I’m guessing fedi software devs haven’t fixed my least favorite fedi software incompatibility, which is:

  • Akkoma and Misskey handle replies to private posts incorrectly - if Bob replies to Alice’s followers, the reply is visible to all of Bob’s followers, even if they don’t follow Alice
  • Friendica handles them correctly - it makes a list of everyone who follows both Alice and Bob, and only people on that list can see Bob’s reply to Alice
  • Misskey interprets this as creating a group chat - thus when Eve replies to Bob’s reply, it mentions every single person who follows both Bob and Alice
Not sure how Mastodon handles this but I assume it’s in the same bad way as Akkoma

anyway, if Misskey has fixed the issue that causes it to automatically mention everyone who can see a post, or Friendica has just switched to doing it the wrong way that matches all the other software, I might try to go back to Friendica

I like its layout better than the traditional “microblogging” format
