And here we are again. Standing on a ladder in the freezing fucking cold trying to get this stupid bastard amazon shit box to reconnect to the WiFi because it has randomly decided it doesn’t want to work properly. When this dies I’m replacing it with something wired that runs over POE and works locally. Any suggestions nerds?
@andy_warb Reolink.

@robertklep @andy_warb I have a reolink but haven't gotten around to installing.

So only comment is that they look ok

@Workshopshed @andy_warb I have 4 of them, 3x RLC-523WA and a doorbell. Work fine, fully local, good integration with Home Assistant and Scrypted.
@robertklep @Workshopshed @andy_warb I have had my Reolink cameras for about a year, so I can't speak for their longevity but I'm happy with the cameras themselves. No cloud needed, all the standards I need are supported.

@brian_burton @Workshopshed @andy_warb I got my first RLC-523WA about 3 years ago, then got a doorbell, then 2 more 523WA’s. They have been working fine, apart from one night where I woke up hearing a strange sound which turned out to be the “reset jingle” of one of the 523WA’s.

They come with a reset button attached to the cable harness that is susceptible to water ingress, and over the years enough moisture crept in (even though it was fully shielded against the weather) to trigger the reset button 😬 (fixed by first flushing the button with contract spray followed by dielectric grease)

@robertklep @brian_burton @Workshopshed Relolink definitely seems to be the best solution! Thanks all for the recommendation!
@andy_warb @robertklep @brian_burton mate is also using Reolink with POE, a mini PC and Frigate for software
