He’s gone way too soon.
I think his influence on Schlagenheim is one of the reasons it feels so different from their other records. It remains my favorite Black Midi release.
In 2023 I discovered their first KEXP set & that was when black midi finally clicked for me.
Seeing Matt play the bmbmbm sample through his pick up blew my mind. (I had always heard you should never let your phone near a pick-up).

As a bass player, seeing the tones Matt Geordie, & Cameron created introduced me to new possibilities.
Shortly after getting into the band, I started taking bass lessons again to cope with intense anxiety.
Black Midi played a large roll in that & someday I’ll be able to play one of their songs.
