As promised, heres the 1700s Scold. This is a torture device used for people who gossiped, spread rumors, accused of blasphemy and a whole plethora of other slights society of that era deemed punishable. The offender was often made to stand in the streets with this on so everyone could see them.

That small circle was placed in the mouth and the rest was clamped over their head and locked into place.
