These stories keep being repeated, for many years now. Transitioning the Global South by slapping solar panels on people's roofs and calling it a day clearly doesn't work. These things need proper maintenance and that requires an infrastructure of technical services that is often simply lacking.

This isn't a solved issue.

@collectifission This has been true forever for a wide variety of technologies. Rich countries can sell high tech goods to poor countries, but what poor countries need is technology transfer, and manpower development. That's the hard part.
