18 Blackfriars Street in Glasgow. Originally constructed in 1790 as a Neo-Classical merchant's house, this is one of Glasgow's surprising number of surviving Georgian mansions. However, by the 1970s, when it was being used as a banana-ripening warehouse by the fruit merchant's Gilbert Walker and Co, it was a shadow of its former self and had lost its top floor and pediment.

The upper floor and pediment were rebuilt when it was refurbished in the 1980s and turned into a pub called Babbity Bowster. Still occupying the site to this day, it's named after a Scottish Country Dance traditionally performed at the end of a ball.

@thisismyglasgow A favourite venue for my regular lunchtime meet ups with my cousins. The food is worth a visit
Glad this unique looking building was more or less saved! Sounds like a fun place, as well!
