Self driving vehicles are among the most dystopian things for me. The trolley problem is an unsolvable ethics thing, and yet, techbros let these horrors loose on public roads, wtf

They aren't really a thing yet here in the EU, but of course that won't be the case for long

@bazkie depends...

The only "self driving allowed" is a strip of Highway around Munich, because there's less relative speed difference than inside city limits.

  • Also the problem is who's gonna be responsible for failures. And unless the manufactueer is personally liable at unlimited amounts they legally can't in Germany - this includes criminal liability…
@kkarhan indeed! but with the direction things are going in the western world, these rules & regulation may not protect us forever

@bazkie giveb that the #Swasticar #Dumpster is not road legal in Germany for being crash-incompatible & sporting banned hazardous corners and edges, I doubt that Waymo or Zoox have any chance of getting their stuff accepted either.

Or as we say in German:

TÜV sag nein!

(Tech Inspection says no!)

@kkarhan I really hope that remains the case! πŸ™

@bazkie Germany has always only upped safety standards.

Kinda how Japan never diluted Kei-Cars beyond the original vision.
