The footage of the canal breach at Whitchurch prompted a number of questions and messages of concern. Whilst (in canal terms) we are a long way away and not directly affected by it, this episode reflects on the breach following a challenging year on the canals and what it might mean for the future of life on the canal.
*Spoiler - it is not all doom and gloom!*

@nosw As always a great listen. And great news on new lock-wheelers! A lovely start to the New Year. Its been snowy and cold in Suffolk (snow is rarer here). I did visit the small city of Ely in Cambdrdgeshire a week ago and visited the Great Ouse and its narrowboats. No sign of the Ouse freezing in the town, but I wonder if it does freeze further into the fens. Sitting with my wife watching the boats and trying to ignore the bitter chill was a welcome distraction from life. Canal time works on the towpath and benches as well as aboard it seems. Wishing you warm fires, cosy cups and safe paths till next time
