Tomorrow is bin day and I have no idea which bins to put out. The council online calender is batsh** crazy (the grey bin isn't even shown) and seems to suggest *all* bins go out tomorrow which is all I can do and see which ones are collected and over time extrapolate (good word probably Innapropriately used) which week is which. For now it is bin anarchy.
#Glasgow #BinAnarchy
@emsquared ours should have been today but is tomorrow just for today (having been Monday instead of Friday the past couple of weeks previously to this week). We’ve only got two bins, the green normal one for actual rubbish (tends to only have one maybe two tied-up bags for the week) and the recycling one with the orange lid, which apparently actually does get recycled at the big recycling plant in Beckton.
@u0421793 Wow. I dream of only 2 bins. We have 5. One general waste (confusingly green) monthly , two recycling bins, one is paper and cardboard(blue) and the other tins and accepted plastics (grey) fortnightly but not the same week, a purple glass bin (8 weeks apart) and one brown bin (food and garden waste). Fortnightly, which is free for food but 50 quid a year for garden waste.
@emsquared that, is taking the piss
@u0421793 That's something that Glasgow council are sadly very good at.
@emsquared I went from, in the early 2000s, quite naturally assuming everything that gets put into the recycling gets atomically dismantled into piles of raw elemental atoms, to by about the mid 2010s assuming it just gets landfilled like everything else. It turns out that our recycling plant here in Beckton (at Jenkins Lane) is quite sophisticated and intriguingly capable. I should look into it a bit more, the team picking stuff up seem very motivated and knowledgeable about the whole process of recycling. In fact yes, I need to know more about what they do.
@u0421793 Sounds like nania from where I'm sitting.
