@LucyWinter it burns me up that the people who get drawn into this fascist bullshit, the folks who cluster round squalid right-wing celebrities like J. D. Vance or Elon Musk, have basically found a way of being bad at all that stuff. they're people who clearly stink at responsibility, they're always complaining about their disastrous private lives and moaning about how everyone's fled from them, but they've got their precious fashy cult keeping them going.
they get to have fun, and laugh at those who actually care about friendship and family and living in harmony and all that boring stuff. our frantic efforts to keep society stumbling forward are funny to them. I suppose they feel like at some point their life is simply going to fade into a bright glow of God's Kingdom (or a nuke) and nothing's gonna matter any more.
In the movie Hope & Glory there's a quiet & peaceful scene of lawn mowing, gardening, & kids playing that's interrupted by a BBC war announcement.

In the background, a bomb shelter, food being grown, & a father doing chores for his family before a duty call-up for military service.
Start preparing. Food. Preparatory chores. Sheltering & supporting family & friends. Uniting together against fascism.
Advance planning helps.
