Yesterday, on my way from the office just past 6:30PM, I tried to listen to the 144.174 for FT8 activity but didn't hear a ping.

On the other radio (the cheap and nice Key 3000 for £15 - I've got three!), I also scanned through all VHF repeaters and simplex channels, and didn't hear a thing.

On the yet another radio, a DMR handheld, scanned the known DMR repeater/simplex freqs, and didn't hear a thing.

Depressing.

@M0KHR 2m FT8 can be super busy and super fun. Well worth leaving it on when in the shack.

I'm the one who joins the European VHF FT8 activities with a 818, 5W or less, and a vertical slim-jim antenna. :)

It's fun when you still manage to get a ping hundreds of km away with everything against you.
