"consumers aren't buying based on AI” is demonstrably untrue, because i am a consumer, and i buy based on AI. i see a product uses AI and i choose something else

@ozone89 @Ninji Living in Austin I know a shit load of ppl who worked for Dell. Everyone got laid off, they bet the farm on AI, and it took precisely one financial year for them to realize, “well, maybe this isn’t such a good idea after all…” Everyone who exited knew this would happen.

And these are THE GUYS who supply server racks and blades to datacenters. This is the single largest OEM in America (maybe Lenovo is bigger?) saying “AI should not be the core of our consumer OEM business”.

@power_zoey_g5 @ozone89 @Ninji And yet I saw 2 online ads for a Dell "AI PC" which showed a laptop. What's the point in running an LLM on a laptop?!

I guess they have spare stock to sell :-)
