Learning to code is like learning a new language.

At first you repeat useful phrases: “make a barplot”, “clean this column”, “count the rows”. It works – until you realise you’re stuck and can’t say anything new without copying.

Code only becomes yours when you start to read it like text: vocabulary, grammar and meaning. Line by line.

If you’d like gentle, language-style practice with R, my monthly newsletter Sharp Under Pressure can help:

@ManuelChevalier Great analogy, learning code really is like mastering a new language, starting with useful phrases before reading fluently line by line. And real ownership comes when you understand the grammar and meaning behind each line.

On the other hand, once you're at that reading stage, gentle repetition helps it stick naturally. We are only humans and the Coding Flashcards build exactly like language practice for R, Python, C#, and more: https://summonthejson.com/collections/coding-flashcards

Thanks for the appreciation, @Maks_Janiak .

I looked briefly at your deck cars, and they look pretty neat. I didn't see any for R, do you have that in your stock, or is it in the making?

@ManuelChevalier

Right now there is no R deck, sorry.

But 😉, if at least 10 people are interested and place a preorder request, we can definitely create it.

@Maks_Janiak, could you tell us where we can place such a pre-order? I'm sure any people would show interest if made easy to do so.

@ManuelChevalier

We’re working on the preorder function (especially for you) and I’ll let you know as soon as it’s ready (and I’ll share the link).
Thanks for your interest!
