"“The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.”"

Words to remember even if, right now, the universe seems to be bending toward evil and chaos. I want to ignore the horrors of the global stage and focus on the local. What else can I do except to register my opposition and move on? I feel helpless. Lisa and I will go to the protests, again. We will vote in November. But I feel impotent in the face of this unchecked and corrupt government.

@leo you aren’t alone. Though I think all of this is designed to convince us all that we are and to give up.

Also, good to see you active here

@leo Hang in there, Leo. It will be ok!
@leo You're already doing more than most by protesting. Other than that? Vote, indeed, and talk about it. You have a large audience, so what you say reaches a lot of people. Don't be afraid to talk politics on a tech channel. This is important enough to talk about now, or in a few years you won't be able to even if you wanted. Who knows, maybe you'll sway a few to vote for the non-insane option in a few years.
@leo I don't like this quote because it implies that you can take your hands off the wheel and everything will be fine.

@leo @User47

I think this is a harmful phrase because it gives people an off-ramp to keep doing nothing.

The universe doesn’t have a moral arc and nothing will magically work out.

What does bend the arc of humanity is power. And the writers of history are almost universally the ones with power. I and probably most US children grew up being taught about “Manifest Destiny” through an uncritical pro-colonist lens after all when it really meant genocide.

@leo The work is always local. Why not volunteer to ferry people to the polls? Spend an afternoon at the food bank? These help people in an immediate and personal way.

@leo

You aren't powerless. You can use your platforms and privileges to amplify the voices of those most negatively affected by the fascist actions of the administration. Speak out loudly and consistently against all bigotry and oppression, whether on the basis of race, sex, gender identity, religion, or other characteristics.

@leo MLK was a great visionary, so let's hope this dream comes true also.

@leo “We will vote in November.”

Primaries are the real election. Decades of allowing the oligarchs to decide who is allowed in the general election have led us to this point.

@leo sounds silly, every liberal world leader was in favor of this
@leo take heart! The midterms approach and the Dems will likely take control of Congress, which means the end of the stupidity
