Mary Cooch (AKA Moodle Fairy) has retired from her role as an employee at #MoodleHQ having been involved with the project from it's earliest days.

She posted her goodbye in the Moodle forum here

https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=471476#p1892831

I was struck by her comment here

"The Moodle of today is not the Moodle I joined - but then, neither are we the same people today that we were yesterday. Everything is impermanent, and understanding that is key to our peace."

@marcusgreen I understand this has to happen (people retiring & things changing) but I still feel a little sad at reading this. @moodlefairy was one of the few people from Twitter I found on here and I always felt like her encouragement and support during a Moodle MOOC many yrs ago were key to helping me complete it & go on to use Moodle in my teaching in the subsequent years. Thanks, Mary, and best of luck!

I love seeing these kinds of things, this is proof that the Moodle comunity is the greatest community in the world 🤗

What's a Moodle MOOC? Did you mean Moot??

And Mary, I said it responding to your forum message but again: Super good luck and best wishes!!! Thanks for everything.

It was when the idea of a Massive Open Online Course (Mooc) was fashionable. This discussion makes me think about where the next generation of people like Mary might come from.

@marcusgreen @bhect0 @moodlefairy Yes, the online course (MOOC) was called Learn Moodle, I think. There were a couple of iterations; I think I did the very first one in 2013. Really very useful.

Thanks Vedrana, good to know.
