A few comments on the U.S. invasion of Venezuela:

• Parts of the Venezuelan government will have cooperated with the U.S. in order to save their own hides. Otherwise this would not have been so easy to capture Maduro.
  • Of course those parties will see their “deals” fall apart quicker than they can spell “collaboration”.
  • This served two purposes: making things easier for the U.S. military and delegitimizating any surviving leadership in the eyes of their supporters.
• This invasion greatly increases the probability of China using force to annex Taiwan.
• I don’t cry any tear for Maduro and his regime.
  • The invasion is illegal nonetheless.
  • I strongly doubt it will improve the situation for the people in Venezuela in the long term.
