Yes thats correct, the official instructions tell you to mount it upside down and the kit it comes with only works one way.

I’ve always found it irritating on others I’ve done over the years but there ya go.

Does this mean before you had it mounted it was actually upside down? Like the controls and all the text was upside down?

No it was sitting right side up on the floor

Sorry, it is an option to be mounted on the wall.

Normally it would sit right side up in a stack or on the floor, by wall mounting you have to flip it so the controls are at the bottom which turns them upside down.

Its not an issue cause like I said in another comment its a number dial and a hot/cold toggle, nothing hard to figure out
