Oh you hate socialism?

The US spends about $106b/yr out of its $10.3t/yr budget on food stamps. That's about 1% of the yearly budget.

Let's put that in perspective. If you make $50,000/yr salary, about $80 of your taxes goes toward food stamps, and about $4,000 of it goes toward corporate subsidies (defense contracts, billionaire tax breaks, farms, distributors, oil and gas, etc).

If you're mad about the 80 bucks instead of the $4,000 dollars, you don't hate socialism, you hate poor people.

@Lana 106b over 10.3t, isn't it 1.03%?
@huynhjl @Lana That’s still minuscule in the big picture of Corpo Capitalist subsidies. πŸ€”
@Huntn00 it's a thousand times more though, worth a correction @huynhjl @Lana

@martenson @Huntn00 @huynhjl

I legit don't know how I made that mistake. I ran the numbers three times. Must have kept making the same damn error every time.

@martenson @huynhjl @Lana I agree but the point remains valid.
@Lana even better, a family of 4 with a family income of 50,000 would most likely qualify for food stamps at about $400/month
@Lana but but... the people taking the $4000 tell me the $80 just gets spent on drugs and poor people and that instead I am morally wrong for not giving it to them. So obviously I shouldn't be giving them $4000.. I should be giving them $4080 right???? Because im incapable of thought.
@Lana OMG, thank you and so well said!!
