I’m always surprised that this kind of rhetoric works. If the EU were such a big bully, nothing would stop Hungary from just leaving. Like, at some point you’d have to ask yourself why a supposedly competent and well-meaning leader keeps you in a relarionship with an entity that allegedly only wants the worst for you.

The problem is an aging countryside population that consumes terrestrial broadcast only. All terrestrial broadcast is controlled by the current government. Young people overwhelmingly support lgbtq rights and the party votes keep shifting year over year towards the opposition the past few years as old people die due to neglected healthcare.

So the People of a democratic society doesn’t bear any responsibility of what they choose to vote for? May I remind you, that being a democratic government is one of the first requirements to ever get into the EU, which is why turkey forinstance, struggles.
I know a lot of young People from poland, hungary, Slovenia and Bulgaria, that we have a lot in common with, and hate their current government. Doesn’t mean Jack shit, when it’s the 60% boomer voters who decides the path of your country. That is how democracy works. It’s the majority that gets to choose if your country is pro russian, or pro EU.
There are zero democratic countries on this planet. Governments almost never enact policy that their voters want if that policy conflicts with the interests of rich people. That is a general fact, scientifically proven in multiple EU countries. The influence voters have over what their government does is very minimal and only impacts surface level things. Real change only comes through direct imdividual action and the threat of guillotines.
Wrong. Lobbying is a thing in all countries, I get that, but most of the time, it is lobbying in the parties that already supports your cause as a company. Therefore, it’s up to the citizens, to see through the noise, and still agree or dissagree with those parties. (If its a multiple party parlament, not that 2 party shitshow like usa)

To say it would never happen to your country would be very ignorant. But Saying a democratic process having some responsability, I think is fair. Usually, it starts with a Guy like trump, making politics “great again” a guy speaking the language of the People, being funded by billionaires to make them richer and more powerful. It’s up to the People to see through this madness. Like we had a Guy in denmark called Rasmus Paludan, he was exactly this. This guy seemed to gain a lot of votes, when your saw how much attention he got from social media and such, by doing controversial things like livestreaming he burned the Koran and such.
He failed messirably in the ballet. He then gained a lot of popularity in sweden, and tried there. Again, failed.
Ofc you can’t compare the democratic process of sweden and denmark to the usa. Since it isn’t a federal government with multiple states, and isn’t a 100% capitalistic system, where backing from private companies benefits your cause, rather than in scandinavia, People would absolutely see it as corruption and would impact your political run negatively. We also have maybe the nearest to a valid media cocerage you could get, which is actively giving all candidates the same/or near same speaking time on television, rather than us private media, which Usually is in favor of one party (fox for trump, CNN for pamala Harris, etc.).
