While this is a lovely statement, I would prefer to not burn money on Android based phone as FLX1s.

Having mainline support for your hardware isn't easy nor cheap. It requires huge investment. I'll rather continue working on OnePlus 6/6T support until it can be daily driven by regular users.

@okias seeing this post was very disappointing. Even if I was never interested in buying a non-mainline device, I thought better of FuriLabs. A mobile Linux company should work with the rest of the community on making the ecosystem better. Such marketing posts aimed at a mobile Linux competitor (even one with many faults) are not helping achieve that goal. I hope this was just a mistake which will be fixed in the future.

@sado @okias

1/ Please note that I am only customer of Furilabs (not financially tied in any ways and I do not get anything to write those blogs - they are my words not Furilabs). I am not trying to start fight between different companies or communities. How ever I do know that some of my words are negative and will resonate very badly for some people and I also stated it in the beginning of that blog.

I am simply writing honestly how my experience was/is with the devices what I have owned.

@sado @okias

2/ and I also tell all the positive stuff for all projects.
I have supported by buying hardware or donating money to projects like: Ubuntu Touch, Phosh, postmarketOS, Purism, to megi and Biktorgj etc. I do respect all of them so much and I do wan't all of them to succeed.

I also want to say; I am not seeing (and hopefully others are not too) different linux projects as enemies. After all most projects end up dead because volunteers burn-out (mentally, physically or financially)

@sado @okias

3/ For example I love how postmarketOS devices are progressing or how Purism mainlines stuff. Eventually those devices will be there and when that is happening you might see my again using one of my pmos phones or Librem 5 😎 .

How ever I also need at least "mid-level android" -level working phone today. Unfortunately my current life needs also some android apps - I don't love it but sometimes reality wins idealogy. For that my options are limited and I believe I am not only one.

@sado @okias

4/ So I am all in for any linux. I have also put my money where my mouth is in all cases.

It is better if we get brains and hands to ANY linux phone rather than Android/ios. It could be sfos, pmos, furios, pureos or what ever. I have also hunch that we have lot of people who jumped in "too early" and they might not have any idea how good the stack currently can be. And people who use linux in PC but not mobile yet - we wan't them on board too!

Happy new year to you all!

@alaraajavamma @okias my point here is, your article would be totally OK for me, if the last paragraph suggesting to go and buy FLX1 (quoted above) wasn't there, or if it was not posted on an official blog of FuriLabs, but instead on some personal blog or something not directly related to a mobile Linux phone maker. Instead, in current context, it rather reads like aggressive marketing, similar to what Purism does against Apple/Google in their blog posts, but disguised under the words of respect for the work from Purism. Please take this as feedback rather than an attack from me, if your intent was not as I thought it was - as you can see by my reaction, I just think it shows FuriLabs in a bad light.
@alaraajavamma @okias and I agree with everything you said in your response to me here. Those who want the option to use non-mainline mobile Linux and understand the trade-offs well, should be free to do so, and non-mainline work will directly and heavily benefit the mainline future as well - especially in the mobile userspace.
