@atpfm Thread is a networking type (like wi-fi, Bluetooth, etc.). Matter is a communication standard (like HomeKit) adopted by many players in the home automation space.

I run Docker on an M1 MBA, and Home Assistant on the same Mac in a UTM image. It all works great. Just ask Old Gramps. (There will be an issue if I croak before him, but he knows how to press the Good Morning and Good Night switches.)
