🦊some people treat secrets in games as "obstacles" that prevent them from "beating the game" that they have to use a guide for, and not part of the intended experience of sitting down and just working everything out yourself, and it's like, at this point did you really beat the game?
@roxy Cassette Beasts actually kind of bugged me by offering a cool riddle and then having a character go "Here's a lil marker on your map because you were taking too long, lol." I was essentially putting off finishing the game at that point, not looking for a way to sidestep a challenge.
@DamonWakes 🦊 what the heck?? why would the dev do this?
@roxy @DamonWakes iirc you get a song when battling the first boss, but it's incomplete and you need to battle the others to have the full song that tells you how to get to the ending

there's one more boss you can battle, but it's optional, you can go to the final area at this point anyway (in fact, you can go to the final area even with an incomplete song)

it's still something that bugs me so much about cassette beasts (despite it being my favorite game), i really wish they'd have made it so your partner's like "hey i think i can crack it, do you want me to help" before telling you the answer right away
@Theotime812 @DamonWakes 🦊 to this end we really like how Chicory A Colorful Tale handles it, because you can have your character call their parents and the mom will give you a hint on where to go, and then the dad will be like "let me talk I know the answer!" so you have the choice to be like "that's ok dad I'm good" or "ok tell me" and then he'll just tell you outright what to do next
@DamonWakes @roxy that would have made it so much better imo
Thats great 👍
