Time to do quarterly taxes first time since I've become a self-employed taxpayer in Hungary.

Me: shouldn't be too hard, in the end I'm in one of the simplified tax schemes.

Tax authority: please fill this form with 437 fields.

Me: 🤯 😡 🖕💥

(Both Firefox and Chrome choked on screenshoting a ~25k px tall page, you can only enjoy the top half of it.)

The income tax part is actually fairly simple. Tax = gross income * 60% * 15%. No need to keep track of costs (there is a 40% flat rate for costs).

But when it comes to health and social insurance contributions, the calculations become ridiculously complicated. I've spent half a day trying to implement it in a spreadsheet, without success.

It's so bad even the official guide by the tax authority contains errors in the calculation examples.

🤦

Ridiculous as the quarterly tax report form looks (it's actually more about social and health insurance contributions), the actual input was 6 (!) fields, two for each month, all derived from the total quarterly revenue.

All the remaining hundreds of fields were either optional and irrelevant for my situation or a few constants like gender, nationality or which taxation scheme I am in (most of which they should already know by the way).
