Up up and away I go again, to get more stamps in my #Lego passport. #Changi #singlish #kopitiam

First time flying a Chinese airline, their air marshalls are in uniform and walking the aisle.

China Eastern's inflight magazine is 216 pages

Happy to know that #mastadon works behind the #greatfirewall

I love crossing an active runway

Need more testing but it seems that international roaming data bypass the #greatfirewall

I can't connect to Telegram from airport WiFi but no issues when I switch to roaming mobile data

It's 5ยฐC in Hangzhou and China Eastern left one of my bags in Guangzhou and it will be delivered to my hotel when their later flight lands.

I'm going to freeze my nuts off when I make my way from the Metro station to the hotel... My jacket is in the bag that got left behind... Brrrrrr......

It was only until yesterday that I learned the mandarin character for #Airbus is #็ฉบๅฎข

Shanghai South Bund Fabric Market, 2 suits with 2 shirts for ยฅ2750. Local China fabric, similar quality when compared to what I picked in Krung Thep, but it is much cheaper.

Seriously, for a set in SG, fly to Shanghai for a quick holiday and get one made. It's not that I don't want to support local, I do when it makes sense, but not at this difference in price.

Trust Bank is my card of choice for overseas use, withdrew ยฅ4500 for S$824.67

While most cards today offer no FX fees, and multi currency wallets requires you to pre-purchase limited foreign currency they offer for "better rates" and you either leave money in there or get hit when u buy back SGD, Trust card transacts live with no markups.

An exception is Thailand's 200เธฟ foreign bank cards withdrawal fee.

Not an advertisement but here's my referral code XW48YNQV

The bag caught my eye immediately, I'm staying 2 streets from ่ฅฟๆน– by ๅฎšๅฎ‰่ทฏ station, lovely area

I'll be back at this "wet market" that is right under a huge block of flats. It's across the street from the Shanghai South Bund Soft Spinning market.

Fruits in China are held in great regard like in Japan and I've seen some really stunning fruits.

That wet market really blew my mind and I used to eat sugar cane in the same way. Picked up a basket of ้ฆฌ่น„ for ยฅ20 to munch on while walking around.

There is a very high chance that this purpose built tool wasn't designed or built by an engineering degree holder.

I have to travel more, so I can permanently update a new routine; Wear my teeth after brushing my teeth in the morning.

Food is practically tasteless when you are unable to properly chew your food.

Bonus discovery, the Libby app works behind the GFW, just borrowed this audiobook that came off hold, a little ironic that I'm in china.

ๅฐŠ่€ๆ„›ๅนผๆ˜ฏไธญ่ฏๅๆ—็š„็พŽๅพท that's the Hangzhou announcement for giving up your seat in the metro
Barely scratched the surface of #่ฅฟๆน–
@MadiqIzichi
Can you share how you set up your payments whilst there?

@unkerplus65 Alipay now works with overseas card. I linked it to Trust Bank card, payments under ยฅ200 no fee charged by Alipay.

Amap for finding directions. Can use either for booking taxi.

Agoda is GFW approved, Trip dot com as well.

@MadiqIzichi
I recently read that DBS UnionPay debit cards don't charge for over ยฅ200, also has cashback for CNY usage, which they say offsets the not favourable exchange rates

So I got one.

@unkerplus65 the charge is from Alipay, not the card issuer
@MadiqIzichi
But seems UnionPay has some arrangement with Alipay
@unkerplus65 ah ok, that's good to know. ยฅ200 can buy quite a bit of things for solo travel but I guess for family travelling it could exceed that often.
